The health and social care sector is the largest sector in the UKwith the industry playing a crucial role in supporting the economy by maintaining the physical and mental health of the wider workforce. It is anticipated that around 2 million people will need to be trained and recruited before 2022 as a result of the sector’s growth.
Designed to give students real-world work experience together with a working knowledge of business theory, this course is ideal for students who see themselves as managers in this exciting and evolving industry.
This degree course is designed with your future employability in mind. It offers you the chance to combine theory with practice by undertaking a paid work placement within the industry. Once you join ARU London, our careers consultants will help you secure a part-time job in the indsutry and then during your second year you will undertake your work placement as part of your course.
You will spend one semester in your second year working in full-time paid work within the sector, allowing you to take your learning into the real-world. Practical experience is crucial in developing a career in this sector and so you will be encouraged to start working part-time during the first year of your degree. The course will allow you to explore the application of business theory and at the same time take advantage of the chance to add a big name in the sector to your CV.

We’ll assess your progress through a variety of methods from coursework, group assignments, activity-based assignments and exams. You can expect to part take in on-going problem-solving activities, projects and presentations. You’ll also be able to access support material through our ARU Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
All assignments are designed with your career progression in mind and give you opportunities to develop and improve transferable skills employers look for.
For entry in 2016, ARU London standard offer is 260 UCAS tariff points from 3 A levels, e.g. BCC.
Please note that for entry in September 2017, ARU London's standard offer is 104 UCAS tariff points from 3 A Levels, e.g. BCC.
Alternatively, ARU London asks for
Irish Leaving Certificate: BBCCC.
Scottish Highers: BBCCC.
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma: DMM in a business-related subject.
International Baccalaureate Diploma: 24 points.

We also welcome applications from mature individuals who can demonstrate appropriate, relevant work experience.
All applicants are required to have at least 5 GCSEs at C/4 or above including English and Maths.
Students whose first language is not English and who have not previously studied in the UK are required to have IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
This course can also be selected as an extended degree adding a prior year of study. Requirements for this are 5 GCSEs together with evidence of at least 12 years of education eg. partial completion of A Level, BTEC, International Baccalaureate or an Access Course. EU applicants must also provide an English Language qualification equivalent to IELTS 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.

Four-Year Extended Degree Course
For students who do not meet our standard entry requirements for admission, ARU London offers the option of a Four Year Extended Degree Course – foundation year.
The extended course involves the study of seven modules over two semesters with automatic enrolment onto a degree programme on successful completion.
