Student-Led Events Winter 2021

14th November 2021

Thank you to everyone who has supported and participated in the student-led Tourism and Event Live projects over the past 2 weeks. The level 6 Tourism and Events Management students have successfully delivered 17 events, which have been a mix of online and in-person events.

  • Online events included: Quizzes, an online tour, an event industry talk, an educational session about Moldova, a cultural cooking class, and fitness & health and well-being events.
  • In-person events included: Charity events, a historic pub crawl, a Christmas Market, a local tour, walking along the River Thames, the Women in Leadership Panel Session, and Student Christmas Party.

The 4 charity events did amazingly and between them raised just over £700 for Crisis, MIND, Cancer Research and London Zoo charities.

Well done to all the students involved in producing these events, we look forward to attending future student-led events.

Employability Awards November 2021

8th November 2021

After 2.5 years, we are pleased to confirm that our long-awaited Employability Awards ceremony took place in person, at the East India campus on Monday 8th November 2021.

Awards were conferred on those students who completed the employability skills sessions for the Pioneer, Bronze and Silver awards and Industry Exposure sessions which demonstrated their commitment to managing their graduate careers. The event was received enthusiastically by the students in attendance, and they were presented their certificates by Charles O’Dean - Academic Director (Student Experience). Additionally, students who completed the Gold IT Excellence Award were recognised for successfully passing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint courses at an advanced level.

This celebratory event was followed by refreshments coupled with opportunities to network with employers through the Employability Team, and the live event was enjoyed by all.

The Employability Team would like to extend their congratulations to all awardees and thank all academic and professional staff who supported the event! They also look forward to the next Awards ceremony with confidence, as many ARU London students are keen for an opportunity to develop their employability skills through this beneficial scheme.

RestartAHeart 2021

20th October 2021

There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every year, and every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%. When someone has a cardiac arrest, performing immediate CPR can help double their chance of survival in some cases1.

Statistics like these, and many others, are just some of the reasons why we are getting behind the #RestartAHeart 2021 campaign by the Resuscitation Council.

Restart a Heart (RSAH) is an annual initiative led by Resuscitation Council UK which aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests. This year is the eighth Restart a Heart.
